Simmer Pot to Natural Playdough

0

Simmer pots can fill homes with an amazing natural non-toxic fragrance, and they are perfect for fall and winter. Now your home smells delicious and you can relax. Wait, instead, why don’t you take the leftover simmering liquid and make seasonal fun-scented natural playdough for your kids? This is a two-for-one! I do promise it’s pretty fun and relaxing to play with this warm and soothingly scented play dough!

Now let’s get your simmer pot going!

Load it up with about 6 cups of water in a pot, Dutch oven, or even a crockpot. If you want to find the scent in more than one room in your home a crockpot will be your best option since it is mobile.

Now toss in the following combination or mix and match to make it your own!

  • 2 navel oranges sliced
  • apple, sliced in half
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon-sized knob of fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom pods or allspice
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

To make the natural playdough, grab two cups of your simmer liquid and pour it into a separate pot.

Then add:

  • 2 cups of white flour
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Cook over medium heat until the dough forms a ball. Handle with care from here but feel free to add in some herbs or dried peels. Seal the dough up well after it dries.
