My Disney Vacation Without Kids Was Fun

0

I never understood the appeal of a Disney vacation without kids. I never imagined myself going to Disney World without a child in tow. To me, Disney was a place for kids. When I got the opportunity to go with my sister-in-law and leave my son behind, I jumped at that chance.

At first, I thought it was just for me to get away since I was burnt out, but the closer we got to the trip, the more excited I got to experience the most magical place on earth. As much as I wish I was able to experience it with my son, being there without a child was a huge relief.

Here are some reasons why I thought going to Disney without kids was so much fun:

Was able to experience everything

My sister-in-law has been to Disney several times, so she was excited to be my tour guide. She wanted to show me EVERYTHING. And she certainly was able to do that. We could spend all day long at the parks because we didn’t have to go off of my child’s schedule. We were able to ride all the rides with no limitations. I was also able to watch the shows Disney offered and actually enjoy them!

No temper tantrums

When I heard a child screaming or throwing a fit, I felt terrible for the parents. I also breathed a sigh of relief. I was so thankful that I did not have to stop and console my child and miss an experience that I wanted to have. Disney is overwhelming and exhausting, especially for the first time. So I was relieved and grateful that I didn’t have an overwhelmed and over-tired child adding more stress to the experience. It was great knowing that people were not judging me and that I didn’t have to feel embarrassed about his behavior.

No stroller needed

The park was super busy and there were a ton of people to navigate your way through. Seeing people trying to push their strollers through the crowd seemed extremely frustrating. I was glad that I did not have to worry about weaving through the crowd with a heavy stroller. Also, with the weather being hot and humid, pushing extra weight through the crowds would have made it more difficult in the heat.

Waiting in lines was more enjoyable

Nobody likes waiting in lines, but all there is at Disney are lines. For rides. To get food. To enter the park and even with a lightning lane, you still may have to wait in a short line. Not having an impatient kid waiting in those lines was a huge relief. It made the waiting part much more enjoyable and a lot less stressful.

I had a great weekend away, and I now understand the hype of Disney. It truly is a magical place. As much fun as I had without my son, I truly am excited to experience it through his eyes in a few years. Which would you enjoy more a Disney vacation without kids or with your children?
