I may be a little bit obsessed here, but truly I’m not sure if there is a better side dish than green bean casserole. That being said a soup can never comes into play when I’m in charge.

Here are three delicious green bean casserole recipes featuring a homemade cream sauce base and a unique twist for your next holiday gathering:

Classic Green Bean Casserole with French Onion and Panko Topping

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and cut in half
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable stock
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
