The sun was shining and the summer breeze was pouring through the open doors of Sterling Street Brewery in Clinton, MA as local moms gathered for a night out. After we all grabbed our drinks, Annie invited us all to gather around. She helped everyone feel so comfortable by pointing out how many of us came by ourselves. It takes guts to show up on your own! Also, she noted how many moms were attending their very first Central Mass Mom event. It was, in fact, a majority of the group, which was so exciting! Central Mass Mom is growing each and every month, and I think that is a great testament to the warm and welcoming community that Annie has built.
Upon entering the brewery, you can see all of the tanks and other makings of the beers to the left. Straight ahead is a great big menu and bar area to order your drinks and food. A small merch section and cooler full of 4-packs to go is nearby. The rest of the brewery is an open space with room to mingle around or sit at one of their many tables. Games are always on hand to entertain everyone. The bathrooms are big and clean! On nice days, there are many picnic tables outside and they often have a visiting food truck for extra snacks in addition to their own offerings. Also, just recently, Sterling Street opened a second location in Devens, so if you are in the northern part of Central Mass, be sure to add that to your list of places to visit!
While some of us settled into a round of the classic game of Clue, others grabbed some garlic knots to pair with their drinks and conversation. Others found a place to simply sit back, relax, and chat. Of course, we all talked about our children some, but we also covered summer plans, our careers, hobbies, and more. It is so nice to talk with others who are in the same boat as us. We are all going through this parenting thing together and building community around that topic is what CMM is all about.
The hours passed by quickly as we chatted, laughed, and enjoyed snacks and drinks from Sterling Street. When it was time to head out, everyone was smiling ear to ear and wishing each other a safe trip home with hopes of seeing each other at future CMM events.
