10 Non-Food Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Kids

If you know me personally, you know I love my heart-themed foods on Valentine’s Day. My kids can expect their annual heart-shaped donuts, as well as heart waffles and heart pasta. However, in addition to the love-inspired menu items, I also enjoy gifting my kids some type of present or experience on Valentine’s Day. It’s a fun day! We look forward to what can otherwise be a somewhat gloomy month.

Here are 10 non-food Valentine’s Day gift ideas for this Valentine’s Day, for kids of all ages!

  1. Create at Claytime, a Paint Your-Own-Pottery Studio in Shrewsbury, MA. They will be offering Valentine’s Day themed pottery pieces such as heart-shaped plates, bowls, mugs, and more. Make a reservation online and enjoy a day-date with your little!
  2. Get active with a Valentine’s Day themed Roller Skating Night! On 2/13, the Whitin Community Center is having a V-Day Skate Night. Wear pink, red, or white. Family Skate 5:30-7 PM, Teen Skate 7-7:45 PM. $10 per kid or $20 per family. Free skate rentals are included!
  3. Pamper your little one with a manicure or pedicure. This could be at home with fun V-Day colored polishes or nail stickers. This could also be out at a nail salon, as many places have child-sized chairs. My girls have never been to a nail salon, so this would certainly be a special Valentine’s Day surprise for them!
  4. Shutterfly Heart-Shaped ‘Upload Your Own Design’ Puzzle: Upload a special picture of you and your kid(s) and turn it into an adorable picture puzzle that is heart-shaped! Make sure to include MOM in the picture so they will remember all your love every time they do the puzzle.
  5. Valentine’s Day Themed Lego Sets: Hanging Heart Ornament for ages 9+ or red rose set for kids 8 and up.
  6. Heart Crafts: Monda Llama (from Target) has various heart-shaped craft sets, including wooden hearts, heart picture frames to decorate, and a Heart Squishy painting kit. You can also find Valentine’s Day crafts at Michael’s and Dollar Tree.
  7. Valentine’s Day Themed Make-A-Face: I’ve always loved these sheets for keeping in the car and pulling out during siblings’ sporting events, waiting at the doctor’s office, or at a restaurant. The V-Day themed sets are super cute!
  8. Bitty Bogg Bag: This bag is a splurge FOR SURE, but I think it’s worth it due to its high quality and potential for long-term use. I gifted my girls Bitty Boggs last year on Valentine’s Day when they were ages 3 and 5. They will be able to use these bags forever. I personally have used the same Bogg Bag for 10 years! If you’re looking for traditional Valentine’s Day colors, check out Haute Pink, Blowing Pink Bubbles, Quilted Pink Taffy, Purrr-fectly Pink Leopard, Cherry on Top, and Strawberry Shortcake. The Bitty Bogg Bag Dimensions are 11″ L × 4.5″ W × 8.5″ H. Your kiddos could use a bag like this at the pool/swim lessons, beach, playground—ANYWHERE. They are easy to clean and ready for all the spills and messes of childhood. Your child could even start holding their own water bottle and snacks in this bag (that would be life-changing!).
  9. Books: Your kids will love these V-Day themed versions of some of their favorite stories.
  10. Heart Pajamas: Target, Old Navy, and Carter’s all offer affordable, V-Day themed pajamas for a large range of ages.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the moms out there! I hope you feel so loved…not just on February 14th, but all year long!
