Spring has SPRUNG! We’ve survived another winter of indoor play spaces (with a side of flu). We’ve spent 5 minutes putting snow gear on our little ones so they could stay outside for 30 seconds. We’ve built a snowman, gone sledding, attempted ice skating…and made hot cocoa 100 times. Now, it’s time to put away the heavy winter gear and enjoy the spring with some fun, local, outdoor activities!
Here are my top 20 things to do in Central Mass this spring:
- Davis Farmland: A children’s discovery farm featuring North America’s largest collection of endangered livestock breeds, along with numerous play areas including a pretend town, bounce pads, playgrounds, goat-carts, and more.
- West End Creamery Adventure Farm: A large outdoor play space with over 25 games and activities.
- Mini Golf: Check out our favorites here.
- Purgatory Chasm: Includes walking/hiking trails, playground, picnic areas, and bathrooms on site. Daily parking fee of $5 charged May 10 through October 13.
- Playgrounds: Check out our Playground Guide here.

- Roger Williams Park Carousel Village: Okay, so technically this isn’t in Central MA…but it’s not that far! Couple it with the Roger Williams Park Zoo and make a day of it! Check out the carousel, playground, and train ride. The Carousel Village is open daily in April, May, and June.
- Lilac Hedge Farm: Food, drinks, animals, live music, and a play area! The Jump Pad & Bounce Houses open in May.
- Ferjulian’s Farm Tulip Picking: Approximate picking dates: April 22 – May 6.
- Have a meal outside: Check out our guide for outdoor dining here.
- New England Botanical Garden: Check out new Spring Blooms as you walk around the gorgeous, floral grounds.
- Biking on the Blackstone River Bikeway: 24 miles long and has various access points in Central MA.
- Shrewsbury’s Secret Garden: 2 Stoney Hill Road, Shrewsbury. A whimsical path with fairy houses, artwork, statues, and inspiring quotes.
- Green Hill Park Farm: See farm animals (alpacas, chickens, ducks, goats, llamas, mini-horses, peafowl, pheasants, pigs, sheep), fly a kite, have fun on the playground, and have a picnic.
- Tougas Farm: Strawberry picking starts late May. Enjoy yummy treats from the farm store, play on the farm-themed playground, and say hi to some of their animals.
- Kimball Farm: Homemade ice cream, mini golf, driving range, bumper boats, zip line, batting cages, and more.
Grab an iced coffee and immediately feel those winter blues fade away!
