One of my son’s favorite activities to do recently is mini golf. This also means it has become a favorite activity of mine to do as a family. His excitement when he makes a great putt. When he gets so excited for me when I hit it in the hole. His excitement to see the fun obstacles each hole contains, and watching him figure out the best solution to get around the obstacles. It’s so much fun to share these experiences with him. Scoping out new miniature golf courses, on a beautiful day, has been a fun weekend activity for us to do as a family.
Here are some outdoor mini golf courses people have recommended, as well as ones we’ve been to that we really enjoyed:
Crystal Caves (Auburn)
This place was a staple for me growing up. I had a birthday party here. Went here with friends multiple times over the summer. I used to go here to practice my hitting in the batting cages for softball season. My husband and I even had our first date here. I loved all the fun obstacles the course has. With the large cave you get to walk through that I almost always scored a hole-in-one on. Not only is the course fun to play, but it just looks pretty. It has a giant waterfall and a bunch of water features around the course. It’s filled with pretty flowers and trees to make the course look vibrant. This is one of my all-time favorites to play. I have yet to bring my son here, but this is definitely on our list to go to. I love that they have ice cream there as well, so we can have a nice cool snack on a warm day.
Kimball Farm (Westford)
Kimball Farm is full of fun activities to do. From mini golf to bumper boats to even bumper cars. Plus, it has ice cream. Where can you go wrong? The biggest problem would be how busy it gets, but honestly, there’s so much to do that it’s worth it. We went last year with my in-laws and we had a blast. We laughed so hard playing mini golf with all the fun obstacles on each hole. It was a great time, and I highly recommend attending Kimball’s if you’re looking for a fun family day. Be sure to try their ice cream because it is DELICIOUS. But make sure you’re super hungry, because their serving sizes are huge.
Mulligan’s Mini Golf (Sterling)
Mulligan’s is a cute mini golf course. We went there for the first time on Father’s Day and ended up leaving halfway through because it was so busy, and it was taking forever to get through. While we were there, we had so much fun. I like that each hole had a fun fact about a different type of animal. There was also a wheel to spin at each hole to give you a challenge to try to complete while on the hole. My son loved hearing all the animal facts. It’s a cute, fun way to keep the littles interested.
West End Creamery (Whitinsville)
I have not been to mini golf yet, but I definitely want to go there…very soon. Anywhere that has the word “creamery” in it is my type of place. From what I have seen online, there is tons more to do than just mini golf. This looks like an amazing place for curious and busy kids. I have gotten the ice cream there and it is DELICIOUS, so I definitely will be heading there soon to check out the mini golfing.
Living in New England, we’re always going to have those dreary, rainy days. If you have a kid who loves playing mini golf, or if you’re looking for something to do, feel free to check out these indoor mini golf courses:
Trombetta Farm (Marlborough)
And don’t forget to grab a delicious ice cream afterwards. They don’t have just standard ice cream. They also have the yummy Italian Ices and character popsicles that you can get on an ice cream truck. Their ice cream menu is endless. So many options.
Apex Mini Golf (Marlborough)
This place was so fun and so cool, and it’s located upstairs at the Apex Center. It’s glow golf and there are so many fun neon lights. IF you’re looking to have more fun, be sure to head downstairs to the fortress that is the Apex Entertainment Center. So much to do under one roof.
Puttshack (Natick inside Natick Mall)
At night, this place is geared more towards adults, so if you’re looking for a fun night out, I highly recommend this place. During the day, kids can go, but it may get a little trickier for them because a lot of the holes are “trick” shots. There are three different courses with 9 holes each, but it is based on carnival games, which makes it so much fun and intense. The technology for the courses is pretty cool too. This is definitely a fun group outing.
What are your favorite mini golf courses? Is yours on the list? Be sure to comment which ones you’d like to go to with your littles.
