If you are anything like me, then you have spent many an evening googling “easy activities to do with toddlers for *insert holiday*” I did this easy Valentine’s dessert board with my 3 year old, and it was not only super easy, but also a huge hit with the whole family. My husband and I have been eating Teddy Grahams with frosting as a little sweet snack after dinner since we were dating – this is a somewhat elevated version of that.
All you need for this recipe is:
- Baking sheet (or whatever you want to use as your board)
- Bowl
- Spatula or spoon
- 1 can of frosting
- Food coloring
- Cookies/Treats for dipping
- Chocolates for garnish
Easy Valentine’s Dessert Board
Step 1: Scoop the frosting into a bowl, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until the color is thoroughly blended. We choose pink food coloring for a Valentine’s Day theme, but you could switch up the color and do this for any holiday or event.
You could certainly make your own frosting if that’s your thing, but I’m perfectly happy with the can at our house.
Step 2: Spread the frosting on your board in your desired shape. We chose a heart for Valentine’s Day, but you could do any shape, or for an even simpler design, just make a circle.
Step 3: Add your cookies & treats. Gently pour them in sections around the frosting shape.
We chose vanilla wafers, pretzels, teddy grahams, graham crackers, rice krispies and some sweet biscuits. In our house, the favorites are the teddy grahams, pretzels and rice krispies.
Step 4: Add your chocolates around like a garnish!
Step 5: Dip your treats in the frosting and enjoy!
