Summer Must-Dos in Central Mass and Beyond

0

There is nothing quite like the anticipation of summer. So many of my best childhood memories take place in June, July, and August. The days were long and filled with adventures, traditions, exploration, and fun. As a mom, I am excited to both create new memories for my children and find ways for me to center that same sense of wonder and excitement. As we enter this new season, I’m excited to share what’s on my list of summer must-dos in Central Mass, in the hopes it might inspire you to plan a new adventure or two.

Summer Adventures With The Kids

  1. Head to the West End Creamery in Whitinsville for Ice Cream and Mini Golf. If you are looking for a day trip, you can go on a hike at the nearby Purgatory Chasm.
  2. Nothing at the grocery store can compare to what you can find at a local Farmer’s Market. Head to one with the kids and let them choose from the colorful selections. When you’re home, cook a meal together and eat it outside.
  3. Spend a day at Davis Farmland in Sterling. We went for the first time last year and were pleasantly surprised at how fun it was.
  4. Grab lunch to-go from the Worcester Public Market and have a waterside picnic at Quinsigamond State Park.
  5. Explore Boston through the water. First, take a Duck Tour or go on a Whale Watch. After your adventure, grab lunch at Legal Seafoods – Long Wharf, a kid-friendly spot that has something for everyone in the family.

Summer Must-Do’s Just For Mom

  1. We bring the kids to the New England Botanic Garden often, but this summer I’m excited to go on a Thursday Summer Evening to enjoy music without the little ones.
  2. Plan an afternoon at a local winery. Nashoba Valley Winery is always a great choice, but there are more hidden gems to be found. Try Broken Creek Vineyard, Hardwick Winery, Vandervalk Farm & Winery, or the Quabbin Sky Vineyard.
  3. Treat yourself to a yoga class and spa treatment. Truth Organic Spa & Wellness Center in Grafton is a favorite of mine, and there are many mom-friendly packages to consider.
  4. Grab a friend and take a trip to the Berkshires. Take in a concert at Tanglewood, stop at the Lee Outlets for a little retail fun, and grab a bite at 51 Park Restaurant & Tavern.
  5. Make a list of the three things that you most want to do. For me, I want to host my mom’s birthday party, nurture my garden throughout the summer, and read a great book at the beach until the sun sets.
