Okay, mamas, let’s get real for a sec.
How many times have you actually made it to your annual visit, only for your PCP to either skip the labs completely or just run the absolute bare minimum because of your health insurance? As busy moms, becoming a lab expert is the very last thing we need on our massive to-do lists. We don’t have the time to research which labs we need or the optimal results that we should aim for, but putting our health first? That needs to be a non-negotiable!
So, how do we make that happen without the headache? Enter Superpower. They’re a game-changer! They handle running the annual comprehensive labs we need, meaning we don’t have to stress about knowing which markers are important or how to even interpret these sometimes confusing results.
If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with all things healthy living, and labs, and I absolutely love digging into data and how we can improve our lives. Personally, I believe labs are underutilized. I believe they should be used as a proactive prevention. But in traditional healthcare, they serve primarily as a reactive tool. Being in control of our annual labs with Superpower allows us to be more proactive with our health, and I think that’s a win! So, here is a breakdown of how my experience went using Superpower recently.
Signing Up & Lab Draw
The startup cost for Superpower is $199 for the yearly membership (it is HSA/FSA eligible), and it includes one comprehensive blood draw each year. This annual blood draw that I had checks 100+ biomarkers (that’s a lot!), and I easily scheduled mine at a Quest location that is only 5 minutes from my house. Superpower also offers at-home draws for an additional fee. I made sure to fast for the labs and did it a few days post-workout. I printed out my lab slip and headed out early in the morning, and had a quick blood draw.
The Results & Health Plan
Within about 10 days, my results popped up on a super easy-to-read dashboard. The best part? They explain every single biomarker in simple language, so anyone can understand exactly what they’re looking at. They even go a step further by showing you optimal ranges instead of the “normal” ranges you would see on traditional lab results. My favorite result was my biological age in comparison to my chronological age. Thankfully, I was only 0.08 more than my chronological age, but this inspired me to better my labs, so when I rerun my labs, hopefully, I will be younger than my current age.
They also offer a Concierge service that includes the Superpower AI service (which gives you immediate responses) and your care team (available 24h on weekdays). Both break down your results even further for you. I used this service a lot to learn more about my results and to build a monthly protocol.
Finally, Superpower sets you up with a personalized protocol that is full of actionable steps to boost your well-being through diet, fitness, and lifestyle tweaks. This means clear next steps and plans, customized supplement recommendations (I didn’t find the prices to be wildly different from other places), and even guidance on medications or extra lab panels that you might benefit from. I loved that Superpower empowers people with knowledge and puts them firmly in control of their own health journey. If Superpower intrigues you, definitely check them out here.
