Mom’s Night Out at West End Creamery Recap!

0

We had so much fun at Mom’s Night Out at West End Creamery!

With a great mix of veteran event attendees and first-timers, we gathered in West End Creamery’s open barn that overlooks their beautiful outdoor space and mini-golf course. As the sun set, we started playing a variety of yard and table games that were spread out throughout the barn. We enjoyed some delicious pizza and salad as we chatted about all the things like motherhood, marriage, moving, where we grew up, and daycare costs. These events allow moms to, realistically, open up to a bunch of strangers in a safe space about the great and hard moments we experience throughout motherhood.

Mid-games we all decided it was time to head over to the main building and grab our ice cream. As we waited in the busy line, we debated on the best flavors. You really can’t go wrong at West End Creamery with a variety of ice cream flavors, milkshakes, waffle cones, and sundaes! The full moon guided us back to the barn as we ate our ice cream, walked, and kept the conversations going. It really was the perfect summer night.

As the night came to a close, a few moms headed back home, but some of us could not stop chatting with one another. So much so, that we closed the place down (yet again – it wouldn’t be the first time)! We had so much fun having some friendly competition, enjoying some delicious ice cream, and really getting to know one another at this mom’s night out.

I love when we can walk away from a night learning something new from one another. It could be some silly trick to help your non-sleeping child sleep better to something with a little more depth and meaning. Like realizing you aren’t alone in postpartum, physical health, or mental health struggles. At the end of the day, we are all mothers just trying to raise the next generation. And it is a whole lot easier when you have a village of moms that you can lean on.

About West End Creamery!

Shortly after the turn of the century, our family began farming this land on the “west end” of town. What started out as a flock of chickens soon turned into a dairy farm called West End Dairy. Our herd of Holstein cows provided fresh milk and cream and was peddled door to door here in the Blackstone Valley until 1968 and then we switched to a wholesale milk market for the next 20 years.

Fast forward to 1999 and the 4th generation, Greg VandenAkker and his wife Becky, began West End Creamery with a goal to preserve our family farm and to share our heritage. Today, we still work the land growing hay, pumpkins, and feed corn and the fun of agritourism, bringing people like you to our farm, so you can enjoy our land along with us!
