It’s New Year’s Eve, and you don’t want the kids to stay up late and celebrate with you. So what can you do instead?
Here are some fun New Year’s Eve ideas to celebrate New Year’s with your little ones:
- Choose an earlier time to celebrate the ticking of the clock. Go for a 9 pm countdown instead! The kids get to stay up a tad late without turning them into grouchy ladybugs in the morning.
- Set up the house for an early party! Get the tacky hats and glasses, along with some glittery confetti balloons, and decorate together.
- Dress up and have a special dinner together, turn the lights down, and light up a few candles to make a fun atmosphere.
- Take the kids outside in the dark to have a little fun with sparklers! Cheap and easy to contain to the backyard.
- Create a wish jar and write down a few family wishes for the new year. All you need is a few sticky notes or little pieces of paper and a jar with a lid. This idea can be turned into anything you want; a special activities jar, a positivity jar, you name it!
- Create fireworks art by mixing paint with water. Use a straw to blow it out in different directions to create a firework effect. Sprinkle on a little glitter for some extra pizzazz.
- Take a timed family photo (so you can be in it too for once!). Take one each year and compare how your family has changed in the space of a year.
What’s one way your family has chosen to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your children?
