Mindfulness is a big part of my life. When I completed my yoga teacher training in 2019, it cracked open a deeper side to me that gave me a whole new lens on life. Part of that transformation developed around the changing of the seasons… and if you didn’t already know, the fall season in particular is the biggest one of change (right behind the New Year of course) since it’s connected so closely to “back-to-school” where many of us feel in a new routine. The movement into the “ber” months of the year brings all the traditions and holidays we know and love.
Fall is such a perfect time to reflect and become grounded before the year comes to a close. Hey, there’s so much more of the year to still live and enjoy.
So, get out a piece of paper, the notes section on your phone, or a favorite journal, and join me in this fall reset, which will take about 30 minutes or so.
Here are 5 questions to ask yourself this fall as you get centered:
What part(s) of your life are you ready to let go of?
What didn’t serve you in 2024? Is there something weighing heavy on your heart? What needs to go? This can be related to work, relationships, negative thoughts, or goals that changed as the months have gone by. I recommend journaling more around this once you identify what needs to be left behind.
How do you want to feel this season?
The words that come to mind for me are light, ease, cozy, and inspired. This can become the theme for the rest of your year. Write the word(s) down on a post-it note around your home, and come back to it often. Let it be your mantra and source of calm during any hectic moments in the fall.
What part of your life needs more organization or structure?
Have you been meaning to get your car detailed or declutter those boxes in your attic? Jot down some areas that need a little refresh and then block out that time on your calendar on a day you know you’ll have time to accomplish it. It’s amazing the amount of mental clarity and inner peace that comes from a cleaner, more organized space.
Who are you looking to reconnect with?
Honestly, your answer here could even be yourself if you need some self-care. That’s a lovely relationship to deepen, but it could also be a friend or family member that you’ve been craving more connection with. Call them. Send the text. Get the date on the books.
Where can you incorporate a little more play in your life?
I love this one. As adults, we tend to think play is just for our kids. Nope. We need to have fun — and more of it. Carve out more time for your hobbies. Go to a stand-up comedy show. Run around in the grass with bare feet. Dance in a pile of leaves. Get silly. Be ridiculous. I invite you to take life a little less seriously this fall and just simply BE. You deserve more play.

Love this Ari! So insightful. I’m definitely giving your questions some thought.
