Fall is here. It’s that glorious time of year when we unpack our hoodies, embark in all things pumpkin spice, and lose ourselves in orchards filled with delicious juicy apples. While most of us enjoy embracing this yearly tradition, we are often left asking ourselves the same question every time it’s over. What do I do with all the apples we picked?
It’s hard to think outside the box of our normal go-to menu. I know I’m guilty of sticking to a certain set of desserts that I’m comfortable making. While apple pies and apple crisps are great, there really is only so many a person can make. This year I went on the hunt to get some ideas for new treats I could make with that big bushel sitting on my counter. The recipes I found; I tried but not without a few alterations. Not only are they easy, but they are also delicious!
Here are 4 family fun apple dessert recipes for you and the family to enjoy this season:
Tip: After slicing your apples with any of these recipes, soak them in lemon juice. This will help prevent them from turning brown so quickly. Put 1-2 Tbsp in a bowl with your apples. Toss them so that all the apples get coated. After, place them on paper towels and pat dry.
Apple Nachos
Ingredients:
- 2-3 Apples
- Caramel Sauce
- White Chocolate (optional)
- Chocolate Chips
- Assorted nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut your apples into slices and arrange them accordingly on a plate.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce and melted white chocolate over the arranged apples.
- Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips and assorted nuts.
*This concept can also be done with peanut butter and jelly.

Fondue
Ingredients:
- 2-4 Apples
- Dipping Sauce (Caramel, White, Milk, or Dark Chocolate)
- Toppings (Nuts, M&M’s, Mint Chocolate Chips, Marshmallows, Sprinkles)
- Skewers
Instructions:
- Cut apples into slices. Stick each slice with 1 skewer.
- Melt your desired sauce in a bowl for dipping.
- Place each topping in its own bowl.
- Take a skewered apple slice, dip it in your sauce. Finally, pick your topping of choice, dunk it in, let cool for 1 minute before eating as to not burn your mouth.
Caramel Apple Bites
Ingredients:
- Pretzels (snaps or mini twists)
- 1 bag candy caramel (or Rolo’s for both chocolate and caramel)
- 1-2 Apples
- Toothpicks
Instruction:
- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees
- Cut your apples into slices, then cut those slices into 3’s making as close to a square possible. Stick one toothpick into each apple piece.
- Line a cookie sheet with your pretzels.
- Unwrap your candies and place one on top of each pretzel.
- Bake in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Just long enough for the caramel to get soft and gooey.
- Lightly press one apple piece onto each pretzel bite. Let cool for 2 minutes and enjoy!

Deconstructed Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 Apple
- 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
- Graham Crackers
- Vanilla Ice cream
- Vegetable oil (butter flavored pam or avocado oil can also work)
- Air Fryer
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees
- Combine Cinnamon and Sugar together in a bowl and set to the side.
- Skin and cut apple into 8 equal size slices.
- Toss apple slices in oil to give them a light coat
- Place apple slices in the bowl containing sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples so that they are all cotted.
- Cook apples in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes making sure to flip them halfway thought.
- While apples are cooking, grab your graham crackers. Put some in a bag and smash them into crumbs.
- Scoop some ice cream in a bowl. Place your cooked apples on top. Cover with your graham cracker crumbs. Grab a spoon and dig in!
