Splash Pads in Central Mass

2

Time to beat the heat this summer with these splash pads at playgrounds located in Central Mass. Summer is quite literally right around the corner, and as the temperatures start to warm up it has me thinking of all the fun activities I would like to do with my kids this summer. We love to spend our days outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather as much as we can during the summer months.

When the weather gets really warm we tend to spend a lot of time going to local pools, lakes, and beaches for swimming, but splash pads offer some great perks too.

  • Splash pads are typically free (or at least cheap) and don’t require a membership.
  • They occasionally offer better hours than some local pools; opening earlier so kids can get worn out before nap time, and opening later into the evening to get those before bedtime wiggles out.
  • Not to mention, splash pads are typically located near a playground and other outdoor activities, so you can easily make a full day of fun with just one stop (just pack a picnic)!
  • Also, I find splash pads to be a little less stressful than pools or lakes when you have a little one who has not mastered swimming yet.

Here is a list of splash pads at playgrounds in Central Mass that you can enjoy with your kids this summer:

Cellucci Park Splash Pad in Hudson

Cellucci Park offers lots of great fun during the summer. In addition to the splash pad, there is also a playground. The park also offers Kids’ Concerts during the summer, so that sounds fun to check out too. This one is open for the season in Mid-June daily from 9 am – 7 pm.

East Park (Cristoforo Colombo Spray) in Worcester

East Park offers a bit of everything for everyone. There is some history in the monuments on site, playgrounds, nature trails, tennis & basketball courts, a large splash pad, and an amphitheater where you can watch events throughout the year. This one opens for the season on July 1 daily from noon – 7 pm.

Greenwood Spray Park in Worcester

Greenwood Park is another great park and splash pad to check out. It also offers walking trails, tennis & basketball courts, a playground, and a splash pad. This one opens for the season on July 1 daily from noon – 7 pm.

There are so many great options for splash pads in our area to enjoy this summer. Whether you are looking for just a slow morning at the splash pad or a full day of fun, there are many options to choose from to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Let me know if you have been to any on this list or if you have a favorite that you would add!

  1. There’s also a splash pad at Philbin Memorial Park in Clinton. It’s open now from 8am-8pm. There’s a small playground (no swings), basketball court, little free library, and sandbox. Downsides – Parking is limited and it’s not fully fenced in
