Dating your spouse can be a challenge with schedules and kids. I know that sometimes we’d rather stay in our PJs, watch a movie, and go to bed early, but going out on a date with your spouse is so good for both of you. When it comes to planning dates you can also get in a rut of the same restaurant, same winery, same date night idea. So I decided to put together some out-of-the-box summer date night ideas right here in Central Mass! I can’t wait to add these to our date night ideas list because it is our goal as our kids have gotten older to try and go out just the two of us more!
Here are a few out-of-the-box date night ideas right here in Central Mass that you can add to your list:
Take me out to a ball game
Recently, we went to our first WooSox game with all four of our kids for a Central Mass Mom event. It was so much fun, but it was a night game so our kids were melting down quickly so we left after the 7th inning. As we were walking out, my husband said to me, “We need to come back here on a date just you and me.” I spent most of my high school years going to PawSox games with my friends (my Northbridge/TGI Fridays friends those were some of the best days), so what a cool idea to start going with my husband all these years later at a new stadium with a new team name!
Couples self-care
Have you ever been to a salt room? No? Me neither, but the idea of them fascinates me. What a great way to spend some QT time with your spouse while doing some self-care. I have heard wonderful things about Just Breathe right in Westborough, so we are going to add that to our list for a future date.
Another great option is doing something like card readings, reiki sessions, or even a class at Dragonflies and Amber (use code CENTRAL MASS MOM for $5 off!). Again, you are getting that quality time together and learning more about each other. Maybe not during the session but in the conversations that will come after. Sunset Cruise on a lake whose name is too long
Grab some tickets for the Indian Princess at Indian Ranch in Webster. Before you hop on the boat grab dinner and drinks at Samuel Slater’s Restaurant on the outside deck that overlooks the lake. We love grabbing dinner here it is one of our favorite restaurants! You could even make an entire day of being on the lake by lining it up with a concert or event earlier in the day.
Head to a fair or festival
Food truck festivals are always a great thing to do with the kids, but what if you got a sitter and headed to the food trucks without them? How much more fun is it to choose what you want and not have to share it with your kids? I love this idea because you can try a little here, a little there, and form a complete dinner by trying food from all the food trucks in one place. Sometimes you can even find a few food trucks at a brewery or winery. We love to visit Vandervalk Farm & Winery because they have this beautiful area to sit on the farm, and they usually have some food trucks.
Want to add a little travel time to your date? There are also so many fairs that happen right here in New England. Plan a date to watch a concert, play some carnival games, grab a local beer, and walk around the Woodstock Fair right over the line in CT, The Big E in Springfield, or the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield.
Throwback to the 90s in the city
Throwback to the 90s is all the rage lately, so why not spend a night reminiscing about the good ol’ days? Located right here in Worcester is the Freeplay Bar & Arcade. This is a great date night to get out and have some friendly competition and lots of laughter. Next stop, head to the 90s-themed indoor beer garden just down the street called Odd By Worcester Brewing.
