Thrifting is a great way to update your kid’s wardrobe, whether you’re in it for the savings or the sustainability. We’ve all heard of Savers and Goodwill. Here are some local spots to buy kids’ gently used spring clothes. A few of them have some fun stuff nearby to check out with your kiddos, and a few of them are only open for a limited time!

Just Between Friends Worcester

100 Shore Drive, Worcester, MA, at the Bancroft School

Just Between Friends has chapters all over the country. They do sales several times a year. Think of it like a big town-wide yard sale, all in one place. Sellers price, tag, and drop off their items, and they all get organized and displayed in one large space. Check the website for the different shopping times and to reserve a ticket. There are pre-sale tickets that are paid, regular admission free tickets, and some half-off shopping times at the end of the sale.

This is an online consignment sale. Their spring event is coming up in March. They have clothes, toys, and accessories. You shop online and then reserve a time to pick up your items on April 2 or 3. This sale also has pre-sale and half-off dates and times. More details are available on the Facebook event page and their website once the sale begins.

Children’s Orchard Westborough

Located off Rt 9 at 18 Lyman St, Westborough, MA

This kid’s consignment store has a variety of clothes, toys, shoes, and accessories. They stock a mix of used and new clothes with tags in baby and kid sizes. They usually have some bigger items along the windows of the store, like strollers and bigger toys. There is a whole shoe wall in the back near the dressing room. They have an accessories section (with some new items), a toy section, and a books section.  The store carries some new seasonal items as well. They take items Monday through Saturday, so there’s always something new. The store does not have restrooms, but there are many stores in the plaza that have them available. Tatnuk Booksellers is a fun place to browse when you’re in the plaza. It’s a combination of The Paper Store and Boarders (remember them?). They have a great children’s section and events on the weekends. On your way out, swing by Rocco’s Doughnuts down the street for the most creative and delicious donut flavors…for example, in March, they had Lucky Charms and Blueberry Maple Pancake Donuts.

Cutie Patutie’s Leominster

1021 Central St, Leominster, MA

This is a consignment store as well. They have a pricing structure where the item gets less expensive based on how long it’s been on the shelf. The dates and prices are on the item’s tag. They have baby through kids’ sizes. Bigger items are near the register and on top of the racks. They have a small section of shoes and two large aisles of toys, including some new toys and plushies. There are some books that you can find near the bathroom. They have a few fitting rooms in the back near the consignment counter. The kids’ store is in the same store as the women’s clothes. The company also has a home consignment store in the next parking lot. Stop by Central Cup at the other end of the strip of stores for pastries, amazing breakfast sandwiches, and your caffeine fix.

Fancy Pants Natick

255 Worcester St, Natick, MA

This store is full to the brim! With the time to look, you will find some great stuff. Give them a call if you need a particular stroller adapter. I found the infant carseat adapter for my double stroller there for WAY less than on Amazon. They have a big toy section, and there is a bathroom. It’s not too far from the Natick Mall, so swing by Jam Time on your way home. This is a great indoor play place for toddlers.

Mass Value Thrift

300 Hamilton St, Leominster, MA

This thrift store is filled with donated items. You’ll find baby, kids, and adult clothes. There is a small section of toys and books. They have a changing price structure. Kids’ items are $2 each on Friday and Saturday after they restock. Then Sunday-Thursday, they are $1 each. The kids’ clothes are in the back. Baby and toddler sizes are in totes that you can look through, and kids’ sizes are hanging on a rack next to it. They also carry shoes, décor, home items, and jewelry. They also have a second location that is bin-style, pay by the pound. Mass Value is right down the street from BB Kidz Klub, which is an indoor play place that has a HUGE climbing structure, multiple bounce houses, a huge under-4 area, and arcade games. This one is great for toddlers and elementary kiddos, too.
