Pine Acres Family Camping Resort located right in the heart of Massachusetts in Oakham, MA hosted our family for a weekend stay recently. If you didn’t know already, we are a big camping family, so you can imagine how excited our kids were to stay at a campground so close to home. It was just shy of an hour’s drive for us, but for some of you, it is right in your backyard. Believe it or not, this was our first time camping in Central Mass!
Sometimes you just want to get away from the hustle of daily life without the stress of traveling, and that is where Pine Acres comes in. They are a camping resort that provides all the amenities for your family to enjoy for a weekend or more of relaxation in the very best place – nature!
Our Campsite & Stay
They have a variety of ways to stay at their resort from tent camping to beautiful cabins. We stayed in a Choice campsite right near all the amenities. We had water, sewer, electricity, cable, and WiFi. We were fortunate to be right across from the playground, which our kids loved. It was also an easy walk to the country store and pool. At our campsite, we had a picnic table and a fire pit to roast our marshmallows for s’mores. Bonus: they are big-rig-friendly.
The campground itself was quiet, even though it was pretty full for an early May weekend. During our stay, they were running their Spring Fling promotion. This is where someone can leave their unit on-site for the month of May and just come up on the weekends. This fall they are running a similar promotion called the Fall Frolic.
Everyone we met was incredibly nice and welcoming. Some of the families staying at Pine Acres Resort are seasonal campers (someone who rents that site for the entire season). It is a home away from home for so many families – some of whom have been camping there for over a decade!
Our kids loved the playgrounds and the beach sand down by the lake. The heated pool and splash pad opened the weekend we were there, and we had the entire thing to ourselves for over an hour! It is about 2 feet in the shallow end and 4 feet in the deep end, which is perfect if you have little ones. The paved roads were also great for biking, riding our scooters, and drawing with chalk.
On Saturday, they had a full day of activities planned for the kids. I loved that they used the CampersApp to alert us about 15 minutes before each activity. In the morning, we started at the Jump Pad (right under the activity tent for the season – perfect for those rainy days), they played Gaga Ball, did a craft and coloring, and finished the day with a slime war on the ball field. Adult activities for the day included cornhole and family bingo.
The property is well-maintained, one of the cleanest campgrounds I have ever visited. The staff was always on the move cleaning up and turning over sites for the new guests. It was fascinating watching them all work, always smiling, and saying hi to all the guests, and they were incredibly helpful. The staff was wonderful to us when we needed a few more boards to help level our camper when setting up.
Resort Rental Options

Amenities
There is so much to do at Pine Acres that we couldn’t do it all during our stay. We spent time swimming at the pool and playing at the splash pad. We also spent lots of our time at the playgrounds and down by the lake. There is also boating and fishing, or you can rent a paddleboat or canoe and go out on the lake. There is a full-service Country Store and Cafe, which came in handy when we needed those graham crackers (oops… we forgot to pack) or for a pizza on a rainy night when you don’t want to cook. Also at the resort you can find, Uncle John’s Bait Shop and Rental Marina, mini-golf, arcade, basketball, volleyball, and Pickleball, an old-fashioned gem mine, and for the pet lovers, there is a dog park and pet wash station! This year they put in a gorgeous brand new Pine Acres Pavilion located at the heart of the resort. It is stunning at night time, and it was great on our rainy day to see some kids playing some board games underneath it.
Pine Acres is managed by the family’s third generation. Over the years, they have made many additions and advancements. They are always continuing to improve upon or upgrade what they have to keep this resort top-notch. We watched as they installed brand new beautiful fire pits at some sites during our stay. I had the wonderful opportunity to not only tour the grounds with one of the staff but also meet Randy, 2nd generation owner of the resort, and it didn’t take me long to tell how much this family really loves what they do here. They truly try to make it feel like a home away from home for all their guests.
Thank you so much for letting our family stay and enjoy Pine Acres Resort for a weekend! We can’t wait to come back (our kids are already asking when)!
