A Fresh Twist on the Classic Egg Hunt

0

Easter’s coming… and I don’t know about your kids, but my two are very ready for the highly anticipated—you already know…egg hunt!

We usually take part in a couple of them—one at a nearby community, and one, a much simpler version, in our home or yard (weather permitting).

Are you looking to switch up how your Easter egg hunt goes down? Break tradition a bit this go around with this fresh twist!

Instead of just scattering eggs around the yard and yelling “Go!”, try turning your egg hunt into a mini adventure—one that will keep your little ones engaged, laughing, running, and burning off that busy toddler energy.

Rather than the game of just finding the colorful, often candy-filled eggs, include clues that lead to each location! Each egg can hold a small piece of paper with a written riddle or challenge, making the hunt even more exciting.

Not feeling super creative, or not sure where to even start? Below are 10 simple clues you can use, or if you’re feeling like getting more poetic, you can make the riddles rhyme to make them extra giddy.

Here are some clues to use:

  1. I open and close to let you in. (Front door)
  2. Soft and comfy — lift and look! (Couch)
  3. Cold inside with food to find. (Fridge)
  4. Where do you rest your sleepy head? (Bed)
  5. Turn me on to wash your hands. (Sink)
  6. Full of stories on a shelf. (Bookshelf)
  7. Where are your shoes waiting to go out? (Shoe rack)
  8. Snacks and treats live here. (Pantry)
  9. I shine bright in the dark. (Lamp)
  10. Where flowers grow outside. (Garden)

Here’s the trick. You have to do this pre-egg hunt work the night before because it does take some coordinating on your end. And, you may want to make it more tricky if your kids are older and need a harder challenge (mine are 4 and 6).

Have fun, and get those core Easter memories made! Your little bunnies will love it.
